Leveraging an ERP Implementation to Drive Efficiency

with Appleton Lathing Corporation

Neenah, WI - Selecting and implementing a new ERP is a big undertaking. But when done right, an implementation provides strategic value beyond systems improvement. Discover how a specialty subcontractor leveraged their ERP implementation to drive efficiency, break down silos, and create visibility for data-driven decision making.

Project Snapshot

Appleton Lathing Corporation - a Wisconsin-based subcontractor specializing in lathing, acoustics, drywall, and millwork - was facing challenges with their accounting and project management systems. ALC is a small and nimble company, so they needed an ERP that would facilitate efficiencies for their employees in the field and in the office. They needed a robust and integrated system that could meeting their demands.

Our Approach: A Custom Fit

ALC selected CMiC and partnered with Palmer to help guide their transition. Through previous work with ALC, we'd gotten to know their business well. That knowledge combined with our deep system expertise, helped us create a thoughtful implementation plan, prioritizing the modules and system capabilities that would provide ALC the most value.

We partnered with ALC on every aspect of their implementation: project planning, system and process training, data conversion and validation, and security setup. After a successful go-live, Palmer provided post-live support to resolve the issues that come with any ERP implementation, and to ensure optimal stabilization and performance.

Business Outcomes: Efficiency & Visibility

ALC's transformation has been remarkable. CMiC has greatly enhanced their efficiency, especially in the field. Where their job billing process had previously created data and knowledge silos, they now have real-time visibility into project progress. We helped them leverage CMiC to forecast in real-time, directly feeding into their WIP and providing valuable financial insights and efficiencies that were previously unattainable.

Michelle Walsh, one of our Sr. Business Consultants who works closely with ALC, had this to say about her experience working with them: "ALC is a really outstanding client. Everyone on their team was invested in the success of the project, which is a huge indicator of how well an implementation will go."

A Look at Today

Our focus on security during the CMiC implementation built the trust needed for us to partner with ALC on the design and deployment of KnowBe4 for their cybersecurity and compliance training needs. As ALC continues to leverage CMiC, Palmer is their first call to help them generate the most value from new modules and system patches.

Today, nearly all of Palmer's practice areas partner with ALC, helping them stay ahead in the market. Their proactive approach and collaborative relationship have been instrumental in achieving these outcomes with ALC.
